Rahul Dravid leaped out of his seat in the Indian dressing room at Edgbaston on Friday, July 1 as he was rejoicing Rishabh Pant’s stunning hundred on Day 1 of the rescheduled 5th Test against England. Pant got to his 5th Test hundred, leading India’s fightback on the opening day of the much-anticipated series finale.

Rahul Dravid is known as someone who doesn’t showcase his intense emotions on the field, albeit when he is out there in the middle, letting his bat do all the talking. However, on Friday, Dravid jumped off his seat and clenched his fists to celebrate Pant’s special in Birmingham.

As Pant took a risky double to complete his 2nd Test hundred in England, the entire Indian dressing room was up on its feet, lauding the effort of the young wicketkeeper-batter, who is slowly but surely evolving into one of India’s biggest match-winners in Test cricket.

Dravid was caught on television cameras showcasing his delight before he applauded the Pant innings that gave India the momentum as the visitors fought back from 98/5.

Pant set a new record for the fastest hundred by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket, getting to the three-figure score in just 89 balls. He went past former India captain MS Dhoni’s tally of 93 balls against Pakistan in Pakistan in 2005-06.

Pant joined hands with Ravindra Jadeja to stitch a 150-plus stand as the two batters put the pressure right back on Ben Stokes’s England, taking the score past 270 in the final session.
