HIGHLIGHTS

  • India beat England by 5 wickets in 3rd ODI
  • Hardik Pandya took 4 wickets and scored 71
  • Rishabh Pant registered his maiden ODI century

India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik heaped praise on Hardik Pandya, saying he is currently one of the best all-rounders in the world.

Pandya took a four-wicket haul and scored 71 to help India beat England in the third ODI by five wickets and win the series at Old Trafford on July 17.

On the back of his heroics, Pandya joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and K Srikkanth in an elite ODI list as he became the fifth Indian to score a fifty-plus score and take four wickets.

Pandya is the only Indian to achieve the feat outside the Indian subcontinent and the first Indian player since Yuvraj Singh’s brilliance at the 2011 World Cup.

“Quality knock Rishabh Pant. In a series decider when it matters most. Hardik Pandya you are one of the best allrounders in the world right now . Period. Great work guys. Well done team india,” Karthik tweeted.

Pandya, along with Rishabh Pant, who scored a maiden ODI century, helped India chase down 260 after an early collapse of the Men in Blue. The duo stitched a 133-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Pandya fell for 71 off the bowling of Brydon Carse. However, Pant carried on to finish unbeaten on 125 off 113 balls.

Pandya and Pant have been rested for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. The duo will join the Indian team towards the end of July for the five-match T20I series against West Indies.
