  • India have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0
  • Yuzvendra Chahal took 2 wickets in 2nd T20I

Yuzvendra Chahal is elated for India to seal the three-match T20I series against England at Edgbaston. The Men in Blue defeated the hosts by 49 runs in the second game to take an unassailable lead of 2-0.

The legspinner took two wickets and conceded just 10 runs in his two overs at Edgbaston on Saturday (July 9).

“Great game for us and glad to have sealed the series here at Edgbaston. Onto the final one now,” Chahal said.

India got off to a flying start, with openers Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant taking the team to 49 for no loss. After the pair’s departure, incoming Virat Kohli at number three was dismissed cheaply for one. Kohli’s slump in form left the Indian cricket team’s fans furious as he came in place of in-form Deepak Hooda. Ravindra Jadeja’s quickfire unbeaten knock of 46 off just 29 balls helped India post 170 for the loss of eight wickets.

Veteran India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar left the England dugout shocked as Jason Roy and captain Jos Buttler departed for a duck and four respectively. The English middle-order, too, failed and could never rebuild the innings as Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya continued to make inroads. England were eventually bundled out for 121 in 17 overs.

Bhuvneshwar took three wickets, Bumrah and Chahal picked two each, and Pandya and Harshal Patel got one apiece.

India and England will play the third and final T20I match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Sunday (July 10). The match begins at 7 pm IST.
