Stand-in India captain Jasprit Bumrah set a new record on Monday as he became the sixth Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in SENA in Test cricket during the ongoing Edgbaston Test against England. Bumrah got to the landmark during a fiery spell at the stroke of tea on Day 4 of the rescheduled fifth Test between England and India at Edgbaston when he knocked over English opener Zak Crawley for 46.

Out of Bumrah’s 100 SENA wickets, 36 have come in England, 32 in Australia, 26 in South Africa (where he made his Test debut) and six in New Zealand. Anil Kumble, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Kapil Dev are the other Indian bowlers to take 100-plus in SENA in Test cricket.

Bumrah removed Crawley to break a solid and quick 107-run opening stand in the second session. Notably, Alex Lees and Crawley put up a quick-fire century-stand to guide England to a strong start in their pursuit of 378 runs. Bumrah then came back to dismiss Ollie Pope just after the tea break to dent England.

Earlier, India were all out for 245 in their second innings, setting England a victory target of 378 on day four of the rearranged fifth Test between the sides at Edgbaston on Monday. Cheteshwar Pujara (66) and Rishabh Pant (57) scored half-centuries for the touring side, who are 2-1 ahead in the series. Ben Stokes was the pick of the England bowlers, claiming 4/33.
