Virat Kohli’s comeback to India’s ODI side did not live up to expectations as the former captain fell after making just 16 runs during the second ODI against England at Lord’s. Kohli got out to his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate David Willey in the 12th over in front of a packed house at Lord’s.
India were off to a horror start in their pursuit of 247 as Reece Topley got rid of both India openers with Rohit Sharma falling for a duck and Shikhar Dhawan scoring only 9 runs. Rishabh Pant was the next India batter to fall as Brydon Carse dismissed him. Kohli’s wicket pegged India further back.
Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal scalped four big wickets in the middle overs to lead another brilliant bowling show for India as England were bowled out for 246 in 49 overs in the second ODI at Lord’s on Thursday.
At the other end, Pandya (6-0-28-2), who is slowly getting his bowling rhythm back, chipped in with the wickets of Jason Roy (23) and Liam Livingstone (33) to choke the run-flow as Rohit Sharma had another fine day in office, maneuvering his six-man attack.
Mohammed Shami (10-0-48-1) was regal as usual as he castled rival skipper Jos Buttler (4) with a sharp inswinger that tailed in late. Jasprit Bumrah (10-1-49-2) and Shami were once again in the zone although it wasn’t as big a debacle for England compared to the opening game.
