Damon Hill has predicted that Lewis Hamilton will claim a historic win at the French Grand Prix this weekend. He also revealed his other podium predictions for the race.

After a tough start to the current campaign, Hamilton has been enjoying a revival as he secured a hat-trick of third place finishes at Canada, Silverstone and Austria. The Mercedes driver is currently sixth in the driver’s standings with 109 points.

Many feel that a win for the seven-time World Champion isn’t far away and Hill feels that the Mercedes driver could get the chequered flag at Circuit Paul Ricard this weekend.

Speaking on the F1 podcast, the former World Champion said that he is going for a Hamilton win on Sunday and also said that there could be an incident at the beginning of the race.

“I’m going to go for Lewis Hamilton. I think there’s going to be an incident,” said Hill.

Hill said that the first corner is a bit tricky and one of Charles Leclerc or Max Verstappen could get involved in an incident and Mercedes could capitalize.

“We’ve been talking about how well they (Leclerc and Verstappen) have been getting on. I think that first corner is a bit tricky, the little chicane thing. Let’s say Charles loses his front wing or Max gets a puncture or something like that. Or maybe even on pure pace, the Mercedes springs a surprise,” said Hill.

The former World Champion also suggested that in their race trim, Hamilton has been very very quick. Hill also suggested that George Russell could finish second and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz could claim the final podium spot.

“I think in their race trim, Lewis has been, on occasion, very, very quick. It could even be Lewis first, George second and Carlos Sainz third,” said Hill.
