Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar advised rising fast bowler Umran Malik to practice bowling a million balls aimed at one stump in order.

Malik made his debut for India against Ireland in the recently concluded two-match T20I series, which India won 2-0. Malik featured in both the games, taking one wicket in the second match.

“What a rare talent Umran Mallik is! All he needs to do in practice is bowl a million balls aimed at one stump,” Manjrekar tweeted.

The former cricketer, however, cautioned Malik and said that accuracy should never come at the cost of pace.

“Accuracy & other skills will come in time. But NEVER should it come at the cost of pace,” Manjrekar added.

Malik had an impressive IPL 2022 with SunRisers Hyderabad. He finished as the overall fourth highest wicket-taker in the IPL and the highest wicket-taker for SunRisers with 22 wickets in 14 matches.

He was then named in the Indian squad for the home five-match T20I series against South Africa. The series was drawn 2-2 after the fifth and final game at Bengaluru was washed away. Although he didn’t get a game, Malik was picked for the away series against Ireland.
