WhatsApp has reportedly started to roll out new voice notes layout to few users. According to a report on WABetaInfo, the Facebook owned platform has been working on the visual upgrade for quite a while. It was already available for Android and iOS users, and with the latest beta update the company is bringing the feature for Desktop users. As per the report, WhatsApp Desktop beta testers can now see voice waveforms in chat bubbles. Several users can now see voice waveforms for voice notes if the feature is enabled for their WhatsApp account. However, the report specifically mentions that the voice waveforms may not show up when receiving a voice note from someone that does not have the feature enabled.
Users will also miss out on the voice waveforms design on a voice note if it has been recorded using an old version of WhatsApp. The platform first enabled the new voice notes layout in the WhatsApp beta for Android 126.96.36.199 version, but it was immediately disabled after a new update. As mentioned above, the visual upgrade is only available to selected Desktop/ web users but it is expected that it will be rolled out to more users in upcoming updates.
WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a feature that will allow you to keep certain disappearing messages in the chat for a longer duration. As per a previous report, references to the new disappearing message feature were found in the beta update for Android. According to the report, if you have enabled disappearing messages, the feature will allow you to keep certain messages in the chat even after the time limit for the message has expired.
